Transfer case and
drop boxes

For different drive systems

A transfer case is another type of mechanical assembly commonly found on four-wheel drive (4WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles. Its main purpose is to transfer power from the transmission to the front and rear axles, allowing all four wheels to receive power simultaneously. This is essential for off-road and slippery terrain driving, where all-wheel drive is necessary.

Transfer cases typically have several modes, including 2WD (two-wheel drive), 4WD (four-wheel drive), and in some cases, a low-range setting for additional torque when tackling challenging terrain. They contain a set of gears and shafts that allow power distribution to the axles and can be controlled manually or electronically, depending on the design of the vehicle.
